Text View

The Text View (at the left) shows the file content in text. Bytes that cannot be represented by the font are shown as rectangles here. Their values are visible in the Decimal or Hexadecimal View.

When you type text you can use the Enter key. An enter adds two bytes (carriage return and line feed), so you have to backspace twice to remove one enter.

Keys in this view are:
a to z
0 to 9
other keys
Keyboard keys change the value of a byte like in a word processor. When the Insert mode is on, pressing a key of this category will insert a byte.
Backspace Deletes the byte left to the cursor.

If the file size is protected with Keep File Size at... of the Options Menu the byte receives the value of the fill character (see Set Fill Character... of the Options Menu).
Delete Deletes the byte at the cursor position. If the file size is protected with Keep File Size at... the byte is filled with the fill character (Options Menu).
Enter Adds two bytes like a regular word processor does. In EditAll these bytes will be visible. The decimal values of these bytes are 13 and 10.
Ins Sets the Insert Mode. Inserting will cause the Paste option to insert and not to overwrite.
